Gold and a euro cross in one account, two systems with very different personalities, configured aggressively.
XAUUSD (Gold). A dedicated automated gold system running on its own rules and risk settings. Gold moves on safe-haven demand, rates and the dollar, which are drivers unrelated to the second leg.
EURCAD. A price-action system that trades support and resistance zones and manages positions with grid-style averaging, with an optional lot multiplier on losing trades. Wins tend to be frequent and small.
Risk
The EURCAD leg’s grid averaging can produce deep floating drawdown during a prolonged one-directional move before baskets close.
A rare losing basket can be much larger than a typical win.
Gold adds its own volatility. Gold swings can be sharp, and the two legs can draw down at the same time.
This is a satellite allocation. Size it so a large drawdown wouldn’t hurt you.
